Principal photography for the film took place between February 2021 and August 2022 in Dubai, Hyderabad, and Ooty.

The Ghost, which debuted on October 5, 2022, was widely distributed and garnered mixed to negative reviews from critics, which contributed to its box office failure.

The Ghost Story

Praveen Sattaru wrote and directed the action thriller The Ghost, which will be released in 2022. While Gul Panag, Anikha Surendran, Manish Chaudhari, Ravi Varma, and Srikanth Iyengar play supporting parts, the movie stars Nagarjuna Akkineni and Sonal Chauhan.

The movie centers on an ex-Interpol agent (Nagarjuna) who decides to defend his family after learning that they are being sought after by the criminal underworld. To defeat the villains and exact revenge for the deaths of his loved ones, he unleashes his deadly abilities.

November 2, 2022 saw the Netflix release of the movie. Critics gave it varying ratings; some praised Nagarjuna’s acting and the action scenes, while others berated it for being too long and violent.

Here is a summary of the movie that is more thorough:

The movie begins with a flashback to Agastya Rao (Nagarjuna), the lead character, when he was an Interpol agent looking into a case of human trafficking ten years prior. While breaking up the ring, he also attracts the attention of the crooks. After being shot, he was believed to be dead, yet he lived and fled.

With his sister (Gul Panag) and niece (Anikha Surendran) at his side, Agastya is now living a calm life in the present. However, when they become the target of the criminals who killed Agastya’s wife, their lives are turned upside down. Agastya is compelled to emerge from hiding and employ his murderous prowess to defend his family.

As Agastya hunts out criminals and exacts revenge for the deaths of his loved ones, the movie follows his quest. He also gains the ability to let go of the past and move on with his life along the road.

The Ghost is an action thriller with a formulaic story. However, Nagarjuna’s portrayal and the action scenes redeem it. In top form, Nagarjuna turns in a strong performance. The action scenes are intense and well-choreographed.

The Ghost is a respectable action thriller that is entertaining overall and worth seeing for Nagarjuna’s performance and the action scenes. The movie is not a need, though.

The Ghost Review

Although Telugu mainstream cinema has never been known for logic and realism, certain movies insult viewers’ intelligence to the point that they are eventually unwatchable. In between some well-choreographed action sequences, “Ghost” from Nagarjuna is one of those films that tries your patience while giving you a severe headache from the mayhem taking place pointlessly on screen.

The movie “Vikram” stars Nagarjuna, a superstar, as an ex-Interpol agent who is compelled to leave retirement after some business competitors threaten his sister (Gul Panag) and her family. The rest of this incredibly hackneyed, overused plot is around how he defeats the people out to harm them with the help of his ex-girlfriend “Priya” (Sonal Chauhan).

The 2014 National Award-winning romance anthology “Chandamama Kathalu” was directed by Praveen Sattaru, who is plainly out of sorts in this movie and struggles to make the most of the superb cast he has at his disposal. Only the action scenes feature Nagarjuna’s distinctive flair and panache; the enemy encounters and dialogue are devoid of any genuine tension, suspense, or mass uplift.

The one saving grace of the movie is the action choreography by Dinesh Subbarayan and Kecha, though I don’t understand why an ex-Interpol supercop must use katana swords to fight crooks brandishing guns.

Furthermore, the fact that these stunning battle scenes are sandwiched between protracted, dull plot points and obvious plot twists doesn’t help the situation.

Given the hilariously bad screenplay they have to deal with, Nagarjuna, Sonal Chauhan, and Anikha Surendran give their best efforts, but they are unable to save this movie from being nothing more than an eyesore and an ear-sore. Even the most ardent Nagarjuna fans will find “Ghost” difficult to watch, so avoid it at all costs! At all costs, avoid!
