Satyaprem Ki Katha Review
Although Satyaprem ki Katha, also known as SKP, is promoted as a romantic comedy, it actually addresses a very serious issue.
The movie has a pretty mediocre beginning, with some forgettable dance numbers and some bad comedic bits, but after 30 minutes, it picks up steam and sails along at top speed, revealing some stunning facts about Katha.
Let’s discuss about how skillfully the filmmaker produced this charming love movie. Knowing the tale of Katha, this kind of handling is quite mature and necessary. The movie never goes to kissing or other similar actions but instead moves the romantic track forward very slowly, steadily, and thoughtfully.
A blank-faced Kiara gradually transforms into a happier, more joyful-faced Kiara, and the transition is masterfully executed!!!
In dealing with Katha’s story, SatyaPrem aka Sattu is also given a very mature character. He makes sure to move forward in comforting and solacing Katha slowly, steadily, and carefully, and this is where their chemistry shines. It never felt forced; rather, it came naturally, and you begin to become invested in their love story. Congratulations to Sameer Vidhwans for handling this delicate romance movie so masterfully.
Nowadays, explicit scenes in love movies often appear too rapidly, but not in this one. KUDOS TO THE MAKERS FOR THE LOVE STORY AND THE SERIOUS TOPIC!
But it’s not flawless. Particularly the dysfunctional comedy in the first 30 minutes, the humor is hit or miss. Later on, there are a few funny scenes that make you smile, but overall, in my opinion, these scenes might have been cut to shorten the film’s overall running time. The tunes, in my opinion, are the major drawback. They are awkwardly positioned, and yes, the Pasoori Nu nightmare is real—it appears in the movie itself and has absolutely nothing to do with the scene in which it happens.
You may have seen a similar scene in the snow in the movie Akash Vaani, when the lovely song Padh Gaye Ji perfectly complemented the scene. I wished that scene in this movie had a song of a similar style. Additionally, the Puja sequence’s climax was very poorly concluded! To my utter dismay, the movie finished there, not where you would expect the climax to begin (i.e., it was not the beginning of the climax but rather the conclusion of the movie)! It nearly felt like the movie was about to start a new chapter (or rather, you would sense the climax is about to start there)! The ending would have been far better served by a courtroom scene rather than an abrupt conclusion.
