Prakash, a recently hired DSP trainee, is paired with SP Loganathan by ADGP Mahendran. Despite his reluctance, Loganathan accepts the mentorship role for him and Veena, the new technical assistant. The group left Chennai for Trichy to look into the horrific killing of a young girl in the forests.
The woman was strangled from the front with an iron wire while she was kneeling and with her hair pulled back, according to the doctor, and the might of an enormous guy must have inflicted the wire’s deep knife-like incision.
Further information reveals there were no indications of struggles or penetration, eliminating the idea of rape. The victim was knocked at particular pressure sites on her sternocleidomastoid muscle to render her unconscious, and then she was kidnapped, according to a hematoma on her neck. Loganathan assumes that there will be other killings because of the strangeness of the situation.
As expected, a few more young women—one of whom was the daughter of a police constable—are killed in the same way and have their bodies left in the woods. Except for their ages (early to mid-20s) and the fact that they were all murdered in the same way and dumped in a remote area 4-5 km from their homes, none of the victims shared any connections or similarities. After first disagreeing, Prakash and Loganathan eventually come to understand each other as they work together to solve the killings. This causes them to get closer.
Loganathan concludes later that the killer must be a psychopath with an inferiority complex who compensates for his low self-esteem by placing his victims in a submissive position with their eyes gazing directly into his eyes, then murders them to release his pent-up anger on someone else. This conclusion is supported by the killer’s use of random women and the killer’s method of operation.

The author of OTTplay’s review, Thinkal Menon, gave the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars and stated, “The film has a tightly-woven script that aids in offering edge-of-the-seat instances, but the manner in which the probe unfolds doesn’t boast of novelty.” It received 3.5 out of 5 stars from Janani K of India Today, who stated, “Por Thozhil is one of the most intriguing thrillers in recent memory. It is a movie that should be consumed in theaters.
According to Kirubhakar Purushothaman of The Indian Express, who gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars, “despite following all the tropes of a buddy cop movie, debutant Vignesh Raja has come up with an enjoyable genre film that manages to hold your attention throughout.” It received a 3.25 out of 5 star rating from Moviecrow’s Ashwin Ram, who described it as “a whodunit murder mystery that flows in the typical structure of the thriller genre films we have seen before.” A good performance is put on by the intriguing screenplay, which has unexpected turns, a satisfyingly original narrative, and an exciting conclusion.
