Babu, making his directorial debut, wrote and directed Dada, a coming-of-age romance drama movie in the Tamil language from 2023. While K. Bhagyaraj, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran, and VTV Ganesh play supporting parts, the film’s stars are Kavin and Aparna Das. Jen Martin wrote the song’s music. On February 10, 2023, the movie had its theatrical debut. It was well-received by critics and a financial triumph at the box office.
Dada Movie Story
Student couples Manikandan and Sindhu are in their final year of college. But when Sindhu gets pregnant, their lives are forever altered. Manikandan requests an abortion from Sindhu, but she declines, and they both rent a home. Manikandan mistreats Sindhu by ignoring her and showing no concern for her because of his drinking issue. Manikandan arrives at the hospital to witness Sindhu miss leaving the baby behind after she gives birth. He learned that she had fled to a remote location. Manikandan names the child Aditya and raises him like a gentleman while taking care of the infant.
After a few years, Manikandan looks for a new job. He eventually finds one and meets Sindhu there, knowing that she is the company manager. At first, he was terrified to go to work, but as time goes on, he begins to feel more confident. Manikandan once brings Aditya to his workplace. Aditya introduces himself to Sindhu and informs her that Manikandan is his father, implying that Aditya is her child. When Sindhu realizes this, she speaks with Manikandan.
Sindhu confesses that her parents had lied that the baby had died, and she believed it was because of Manikandan’s irresponsible behavior that she left him when Manikandan questions her about abandoning the baby despite his demands for an abortion. Aditya, Sindhu, and Manikandhan are now a family and have resolved their differences.

Dada Movie Review
Tamil cinema finally produces a film comparable to the Vijay/Shalini smash Kadhalukku Mariyadhai. A moving story is Dada. Numerous emotionally charged moments, a hint of romance, a hint of comedy, a hint of drama, a hint of bittersweet love. It tells the story of unintentional motherhood and all of its difficulties. The lead pair’s chemistry functions like cotton and fire. VTV Ganesh performs his comedy roles with ease, while the newcomers also excel in their roles. The comedy works fantastically.
Both Aparna Das and Kavin perform admirably as Manikandan and Sindu, respectively. Both of whom I believe will become great stars and who I believe are here to stay.
In the supporting cast, Harish Kumar also puts on a fantastic performance and is a star to watch. An additional promising performer.
The popularity of the film is mostly due to the child actor Adithya, who I believe was underutilized. The film’s title, DADA, is an acronym for “appa,” thus Aditya should have been given more screen time. Instead, we were given a few vapid group dance songs that lacked any real substance. In actuality, the movie was lacking a major romantic hit song that would have given it deeper charm.
And this lovely rom-com is something you shouldn’t miss.
