Chowk Marathi movie Review

The story takes place during the Ganeshotsav celebration near Pune and all of the customary commotion that goes along with it. Balya (Akshay Tanksale) suffers humiliation as a result of a dispute between rival groups over whose idol of Ganpati Bappa will lead the procession.

Balya is the brother of a local corporator whose ego is now bruised, and this sets off a series of incidents that include murders for trivial causes, criminal activity, and more.

In his feature film debut, Chowk, Devendra Gaikwad examines politics, youths choosing the criminal life, and the dissolution of families. The movie and the popular movie Mulshi Pattern are quite identical, and even most of the performers are reused.

In Chowk, the criminals and the innocent victims are the main characters. Devendra Gaikwad, the writer and director, made a sincere effort to portray this as accurately as possible, and it is admirable.

Gaikwad conveys the subtleties in the plot with amazing clarity and authenticity because he is aware of many situations similar to those in the movie. Despite the fact that many details are hidden or left up to the viewer’s imagination, the director is successful in creating a gripping narrative.

As was already established, Sunny (Kiran Gaikwad) and the president of Ganeshotsav Mandal (Shubhankar Ekbote) are at odds with corporator Tiger (Upendra Limaye)’s brother Balya. Political leaders seize on this conflict, and a game is set in motion.

Sunny and the president are the pawns in this game. But who is responsible for this? Why does this occur? How do politicians exploit young people for their own interests? Why do young people decide to become criminals? What part does the police play in all of this?

These queries are addressed in the movie. However, it falls short of painting a picture that is more transparent and objective. While certain items have been partially omitted, others have been stretched. The second half loses some of the intrigue from the first.

Both Pravin Tarde and Upendra Limaye are earnest, however in this case Limaye stands out and Tarde’s portrayal seems monotonous. Limaye’s persona follows you everywhere. The performances by Kiran Gaikwad, Shubhankar Ekbote, and Akshay Tankale are remarkable.

The dialogue in the film is appropriate for the circumstances and is technically sound. Mayur Hardas, the director of photography, did a wonderful job. The movie is worth seeing, especially for young people who are straying from the straight and narrow and into the realm of crime.
