Adipurush Story

The Hindu epic Ramayana served as the inspiration for the epic action film Adipurush. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, and Rajesh Nair are in charge of the production, and T-Series Films and Retrograde Films are in charge of the direction. In the film, Saif Ali Khan plays Ravana, while Sonal Chauhan portrays Mandodari and Kriti Sanon plays Janaki. The film will be made available in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali on August 11, 2023.

Several factors have contributed to the movie’s media attention. In a plea to the Allahabad High Court in December 2022, a small group of social activists claimed that the film disparaged prominent members of the Hindu religion and harmed both the cultural legacy of Ayodhya and the Hindu religion as a whole. The court sent a notification to the movie’s dialogue writer.

Saif Ali Khan’s casting as Ravana in the film has also come under fire. Some people feel that a Hindu performer should have filled the position. The film’s director, Om Raut, defended his choice of actors by saying that Saif Ali Khan is a talented performer who can bring the character of Ravana to life.

Adipurush Review

It’s challenging to communicate the nation’s most beloved good versus evil tale to a contemporary audience without sounding out of date. When content is generationally aware, a unique narrative could be the only thing that makes it stand out. As action-adventure rather than ethos is the driving force behind his film, Raut uses the Marvel approach to appeal to a younger audience.

Ram’s aura (Prabhas portrays Raghav), characters, and the events leading up to his banishment from Ayodhya are immediately established. It focuses on Sita’s (Kriti Sanon as Janaki) crafty kidnapping by Ravan (Saif Ali Khan) and the epic Ram vs. Ravan battle that ensued to secure her release.

In the film, the fearsome, huge Ravan and his immortality are pitted against Lakshman, Hanuman, Sugriv, and their vanar sena—Ram’s brave army. The battle sequences include a greater army of Ravan’s CGI rakshasas being repelled by the Avengers’ famous configuration. The first half of the conflict lacks the thrill and sense of urgency that the plot demands, but the second half of the fight makes up for it.

Raut makes an effort to keep the epic storyline and its superhero-verse application in balance and coherent. The discussion doesn’t have the impact that such great characters ought to have.

The characters seem plausible as they wildly bounce from “Adharma ka vidhvansa” and “tere baap ki jalegi and tu marega.” The narrator comes off as dull in the first half. It doesn’t have the emotional impact that one would expect from a legendary tale like the Ramayana. The characters don’t engross you deeply enough.
