Aana Movie Review
The present Covid scenario, in which many people are losing their jobs, served as the foundation for the director’s film. One such bunch of techies is the subject of the movie. Due to the global recession, they are unable to support their opulent lifestyle and resort to kidnapping two young girls in order to make quick money. Aana (Aditi Prabhudeva), the daughter of businessman Naga Varma (Sunil Puranik), turns out to be one of them. When Aana demonstrates her superpowers, the gang realizes they have chosen the wrong person. The picture mostly has small flashes of superhero content, but the big fireworks happen toward the climax. We have a new female superhero in Kannada cinema when the movie closes.
The horror fantasy Aana begins with a lot of exciting concepts, but as the movie goes on, all of the initial build-ups are lost. Even though the writing may not have translated well to the film, one must acknowledge the director’s sincere efforts. The film’s lackluster narration doesn’t keep us interested for very long. If the superhero components had been spread out throughout the movie rather than saving them for the very end, it would have worked better.
Aditi Prabhudeva has given her all in this unique job, which is the first of its type for her. She even shines as this female superhero in the end. Despite their best efforts, the remaining cast members (Ranveer Shivkumar, Vikash Uttaiah, Samarth Narasimharaju, Varun Amaravathi, Karthik Nagarajan, and Prerna Kambam) couldn’t keep my interest for very long. In the background score by Rithvik Muralidhar, thrill-seekers can find them. The music director did a fantastic job, showing that he knew the material. The work of cinematographer Uday Leela, however, has a flaw.
Overall, Manoj Nadalumane’s gutsy effort as both a writer and a first-time director with Aana is commendable. Although there is a compelling narrative, it does not ultimately prove to be a pure horror fantasy. Aditi’s emergence as a female superhero’s concluding scene teases a follow-up. Can we anticipate any additional spine-tingling scenes in the works?
